Breakfast and College Tempeh

Well I'm heading back to school later on today (I think.. depending on the snow.) So yesterday I decided to cook some food to take back with me.

I had a package of tempeh so with half of it I made the tempeh sausage crumbles from VWaV. I tried a little piece, it was great! I haven't liked tempeh so much in the past, I think because it has a weird flavor, but you boil this first.. I think that helps!

Then I made a tempeh "chicken" salad. It has steamed cubes of tempeh (I found that idea online somewhere,) carrots, raisins, pecans and Nayonaise.

I also made Freedom's raw berry mousse, but that picture turned out ugly by itself, so I'll show you this morning's breakfast! Hot wheat cereal, topped with the mousse, pecans and some raspberries. :-D

Your breakfast looks like dessert! Yum!!! Just catching up on your blog and the snow looks awful. I'm sorry to hear about your little accident. What a bummer. Tomorrow's supposed to be 70 degrees here. What a contrast!

I adore the VWAV sausage recipe. Freedom's mousse looks intriguing...I should eat more raw foods. [I should do a lot of things!]

Yum- I'm a sucker for tempeh- I love it in sausage form, and now I must try it in chicken salad form! Did you boil those first too? Everything looks yum.

Nice food, Tania. Wow! I am a fan of tempeh after not appreciating it for a long time. It DOES have a weird flavor, i agree!! Your "chicken" salad looks scrumptious, too. Those berries atop the cereal and mousse look juicy, juicy, juicy. YUMMY!!!

Linda.. I KNOW! It's crazy some of the raw stuff people come up with!

VV.. oh man.. switch me places? I'd give anything for 70ยบ :(

Bazu.. The chicken salad tempeh isn't boiled.. just cut the block into cubes and steam them for about 20 minutes. It's delicious!

your tempeh salad looks great! if you like curry and want one amazing tempeh recipe that will win over even those turned off by the bitter taste tempeh often has? try Vegan Planet's Curried 'chicken' Salad.

I've had omni's and veg's alike smackin their lips over that one ;)
