I'm Still Here!

Gah, this is terrible. People weren't washing their dishes after they used the dorm kitchen.. so they've stopped letting people use it! Good thing the school year is almost over. I'm moving back home on May 11th.. so I may not be doing a lot of cooking/baking until then. :(

Then on June 1st I move into MY APARTMENT!! Ahhhh. I will be in the kitchen all the time! Haha. I need to get all my own cooking/baking equipment... Well that's all for now. Sorry I have no food to post. *cry*

sorry to hear you won't have access to the dorm kitchen anymore! *boo, hiss* & i hope you can find enough to eat around there until you can cook for yourself again... looking forward to may 11, and especially june 1 -- until then, i'll be looking back on your archives for some sweet treats! good luck on finals. :o)

Good luck with yout last weeks of college... and on your new place!

In response to your recipe question about my cashew sauce... I know some people have had the sauce turn out thinner and others have it turn out quite thick and have had to thin it down... I wonder if there's a difference in cashews or something; I really don't know why the discrepancies but that's the great thing about recipes - they're there to modify to your heart's content.... you can certainly just add more cashews as needed to thicken it.

Oh that's horrible. Do they want you to not eat at all? Bleh.

You're done soon so that's great. Good luck with the rest. And good luck with the new flat. I'm moving soon too, it's going to be great!

That sucks about the kitchen... well, you just have to concentrate on the last few days of school and then your outta there! Good luck with everything, and can't wait to see your "back home" and "new apartment" cooking.

That's pretty ridiculous--I'm sorry. It won't be long! Let me know if you need me to send you any treats--I'd be glad to. :)

That is stupid. Why on earth would people not clean up after thenselves. I hope your time flies and you are back home and then into your own kitchen. I can't wait to see the goodies you produce. I hope you are doing better and that everything worked out. Hugs*

If your apartment has a full kitchen, I am insanely jealous.

I miss your food, though! And good luck with school.

Tanya - I just realized that I forgot to respond to your question about how I made those cookie cups. I really just took the cookies and baked them in muffin tins rather than flat on a cookie sheet. It works best with the kind of cookies that you roll-out and cut with a cookie cutter as they are easy to manipulate into the form. But, really you can use drop cookies too, you just have to form them into a flat circular shape before you put them into the tin.

The blind baking I did was to prevent the cookies from puffing up too much so that I would still be able to fill them with filling. That said...my blind baking was a disaster, so perhaps this step isn't always necessary.

I remember the dorm kitchen, people are pigs! And it always smelled like pepperoni in there because people were always using the oven to make frozen pizzas. Gross! Glad I only endured it for one year. Enjoy your new apartment, you’ll love it! Nothing beats living in your very own space. Look forward to lots more yummy food posts.
